Thankful

I have been so long away from this blog, I would be surprised if anyone was still following it!   If you are, thank you for being so patient with me.

Allen and I took a year off from doing the Hwy 62 Art Tours and that freed us up for traveling. We got back recently from a fabulous fall foliage trip to New England.  The change of scenery was refreshing one and it acted like a jumpstart on my creativity.  Then, as soon as we returned we toured as many artists’ studios on the Hwy 62 tours as we could fit in both Saturdays and I helped Karine Swenson with sales in her open studio on both Sundays.

A few days later Ann Congdon invited me to be part of  the upcoming         Broadview Open House and Desert Bazaar.  This event will be an unusual and exciting mix of Vintage and Handmade, hosted by 6 eclectic women from 29 Palms; Ann Congdon, Pam Anders, Vickie Waite, Sue Kelly, Terri Haskell and myself.

I will have available my most recent small canvases, some older “tin can collages”, brand new collaged holiday themed magnets, ‘Round Twentynine Palms ornaments, cholla luminaries, tiny paper houses, and other handcrafted items……

Please join us at the historic Broadview estate

Friday December 12th  from 3-8

Saturday December 13th from 9-3

Spring clings to the Desert a little longer this year!

Normally by this time of the year we are hitting 100 degrees with some regularity.  But not this year and I , for one, am ecstatic.  I think, create, and function better when the mercury is lower.  I just finished 4 pieces of art for Woods in the Desert Art Gallery . Andy is celebrating the one year anniversary of his gallery in Joshua Tree , California this month with new works by featured artists Robert Arnett, Scott Monteith, , Rik Livingston, Mike Smiley and Mike Fagan and me!  My piece “Time Flies” is featured in the postcard advertising the event, thank you Andy!

The Artist Reception  is this Saturday, May 14 starting at 5pm as part of Joshua Tree Second Saturday Gallery Crawl. Hope to see you there!

This is the finished “shrine” piece that I made for the Gallery of Hope .

MitaBee ~ Art and Books

Soon to be .....MitaBee ~ Art and Books

I have signed the lease and am hard at work on my new shop. I am moving my studio about one mile north to a sweet little building just 1/2 block from the epicenter of our small town. I will exhibit my work and some of my husband’s , Allen Robison Barter,. There will also be a small bookstore with new and gently used books. There is an outside area with a shady tree where dogs are welcome while their owners peruse the shelves. I hope guests will feel comfortable to stay awhile while I work in my on-site studio. The tentative opening is the end of February, beginning of March.

HWY 62 ARTOURS 2010

I am pleased to announce that Allen and I will once again welcome visitors to our studio during the 9th Annual HWY 62 ART TOURS. We are the first weekend October 23 and 24 from 9-5.   I have begun work on several new series and am excited about where they are leading me.  If you can’t wait until the tours, I have art at True World Gallery in Joshua Tree, CA, Woods in the Desert Art Gallery in Joshua Tree, CA, 29 Palms Creative Center in Twentynine Palms, CA and the Glass Outhouse Gallery in Wonder Valley, CA.  If you are local you can pick up a  program at any SunRunner distribution point, and/or the Morongo Basin Cultural Arts Council Office in Joshua Tree and if you are from out of the area you can order one online or our Limited Edition Collector Portfolio which includes a CD with tracks from all the favorite Hwy 62 Musicians at www.hwy62arttours.com

MitaBee Wall at Woods in the Desert

Woods in the Desert Art Gallery is located at 61325 Hwy 62 (Twentynine Palms Hwy) Suite D, Joshua Tree. After the reception on Saturday, the gallery will be open Tue-Sat 9-5, 760-399-7075.

Allen and I are having sharing the walls of a small local gallery this March.    The Glass Out House  Gallery is on Thunder Road about 5 miles east of Twentynine Palms.  Located in the Wonder Valley area of the Mojave Desert, the gallery was a rabbit farm in a former life.  With the vision of  the owner, Laurel Sidel, and the hard work of Robyn Goudy it was transformed into a small but magical venue for sharing art.   Allen will exhibit his large mixed media figures and I will share my small assemblages.  So many Alice in Wonderland connections made it necessary for us to reference  that in our invitation…….  Please join us for the opening reception March 6, 2010 from 1-5

Show runs March 2nd- March 21

Gallery is open Tuesday-Saturday 1-5
