“SMALL MIRACLES” is a collection of petite assemblage that feature the small miracles of the local desert and mountains. Framed in old sardine cans and other rusty tins the background of my work consists of collage. I meld maps, photographs and pages from discarded books together into a “canvas” then, with found objects gathered on rusty bits trips, I introduce texture and form. Finishing the story I use words and phrases snipped from discarded books.
I have lived in Twentynine Palms for 32 years and am a retired school library technician. I enjoy roaming the desert and mountains with my husband, artist Allen Robison Barter, gathering cast-offs, discarded ephemera and detritus and incorporating them into small moments in time to hang on the wall.
I will be participating in the Talmadge Art Show in Palm Springs this year. Hope to see you there!
